Richard trained at City University, graduating with honours in 1972. After his pre-registration year in Dunstable he managed a practice in Leighton Buzzard before becoming a partner of Humphriss & Burgess with Fred Burgess, in Bedford, in 1978. On Fred’s retirement in 1984, he became senior partner, with Christine joining him after her maternity leave!

Richard enjoys sport, and played hockey at County level in his youth. He now plays golf and is a supporter of Bedford Rugby Club.

Christine trained at City University, graduating with honours in 1973. She enjoyed her pre-registration year at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London where she gained valuable and varied experience. After marrying Richard in 1975 and raising their family, she returned to part-time practice in 1983.

Christine was an active School Governor for many years and enjoys music, being a member of a local amateur musical society.
